Preface

Welcome to 2515. The great and glorious human empire is not comprised simply of humans any more, but has 3 other species with full membership. Our allied planets number in the hundreds, but we haven’t finished updating our archives yet. It’s a long, tedious job, and our licensed historians are still hard at work like they have been for the past 25 years. We still have long to go though.

Well, to start, we aren’t an empire any more, as you can tell, but we have become a trade alliance, and share the freedom and costs of exploration amongst our allies. Its not very powerful, but it works.

Our main agency is called the Interstellar Biological Society, or IBS. They are in charge of all the various explorers and biologists, and coordinate the efforts of the teams across the galaxy. Right now, they are bringing a major exploration idea through the councils. It deals with extensive exploration of earth itself! Can you believe that, in a rush for the stars, we humans never thoroughly explored earth?? I can hardly believe it myself, and I hope their request for permission to launch this goes through, because I certainly want to find out, once and for all, what’s in the oceans, and how the ice caps affect us, and what is really in the rainforests! Oh, how exciting! Im behind it 100 percent, but that’s only one vote out of 600. Who knows what everyone else wants?

Well, I know one team of talented folks will come. Did you hear how the Flians were discovered? No? By one man! Yes! It is truly amazing what he did. No wonder the chieftain stepped down to travel with him. Yes, I speak of Jameson Laurence and his faithful companion, Sneis. I know they will come to look around, even if IBS doesn’t get the permission or funding for the whole shebang that they want. Well, for their sakes, I hope IBS gets it, cause if those two go in alone, we will loose our best team. As you know, only a small fraction has been explored, and only one out of twenty come out alive. I think there’s something weird in there, and they need a whole support crew to outlast it. Ah, I’ve gone off rambling again. Come on, we have a tour of the capitol to finish!
